Ten principles that run through our projects.
Independent of framework or platform – they keep decisions easy to follow and systems maintainable for the long run.
Trade-offs before trends
We decide based on impact, not hype — and document important decisions along with their trade-offs (architecture decision records).
Modular monolith before microservices
Services are only split out when the benefit justifies the added complexity.
A solid data foundation
Relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) with clean index and transaction design; caching only with a clear invalidation strategy.
Reliable integrations
Idempotent processing, retry and error strategies: data stays consistent even when a system is temporarily down.
APIs as contracts
REST and GraphQL with versioning, clear error semantics and documented interfaces (OpenAPI).
Observability from day one
Structured logs, metrics and traces (OpenTelemetry) instead of flying blind in operations.
Operations built in
Containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, backups and recovery are part of the architecture — not an afterthought.
Security by design
Minimal privileges, modern authentication (OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect), clean secrets management.
Costs in view
Architecture decisions are linked to operating costs and unit economics (FinOps).
AI-ready
Backends that can handle AI workloads: asynchronous inference, vector search, evaluation and data protection from the start.
Transferable scenarios instead of client references.
Complementing the real projects above: anonymised solution paths and the real case study show starting point, decisions and consequences.

↗Frequently asked questions.
Do you develop custom applications together with our team?
Yes. A large share of our projects are custom developments created in close collaboration with the client's business units and IT — from the internal audit software for the CTBTO to bespoke Shopify backends. We work in verifiable stages, document decisions in a way that is easy to follow, and transfer knowledge continuously, so your team stays involved in decisions and can carry the work forward itself later.
Do you also support and operate systems long term?
Yes — that is the rule rather than the exception. We operate and evolve many systems over years: the ÖGB media archive since 2006, several commerce and multisite platforms for five to eight years. Operations, monitoring, backups and further development are planned in from the start, not as an afterthought.
Can you integrate with our existing IT landscape?
Usually, yes. A large part of our work is connecting new systems cleanly to existing ones — ERP, PIM, CRM, SAP, merchandise management or marketplaces. We rely on documented interfaces (REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI), idempotent synchronisation and robust error handling, so data stays consistent even when a system is temporarily down.
Who owns the code you develop, and what are the licence terms?
The custom-developed code belongs to you. We prefer open, permissive licences (e.g. MIT) and deliberately avoid dependencies that would make switching providers difficult. You receive the source code, documentation and access credentials — so you could continue at any time in-house or with another provider.
Which technologies and architectures do you work with?
On the platform side mainly Shopify, WordPress and custom backends (REST / GraphQL), complemented by AI pipelines for content and automation. More important than individual technologies are our architecture principles: reliable integrations, observability, security and operations that are part of the plan from day one — see “How we build.” above.
Do you also work with smaller businesses and startups?
Yes. Alongside international organisations and industrial clients, we support family businesses, SMEs and startups. What matters is not company size but whether we can define a solid next step together. For smaller undertakings we deliberately start focused rather than with an oversized project.
How do you handle security and compliance in sensitive projects?
We have delivered security-critical systems for central banks, international organisations and energy utilities. Security by design is standard: minimal privileges, modern authentication (OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect), clean secrets management and audit logging that is easy to follow. For particularly sensitive references we do not publish names, but we are happy to share more context in a personal conversation.
Why do some projects show no metrics?
Because we do not publish invented client results. We only quote specific figures when they are verified and approved by the client. Where approval is missing, we describe the situation, solution and architecture — but no made-up percentages.
